THUNDER BAY -- All schools will be closed on Wednesday due to the threat of more snow.

Lakehead Public Schools, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and the French Catholic Board announce classrooms will be closed for the day, citing student and staff safety.

Lakehead University has also cancelled all in-person classes on its Thunder Bay campus.

Environment Canada has Thunder Bay and surroundings areas under a winter storm warning, saying up to 25 centimetres of snow could fall before the weather tapers off on Thursday. Snow is expected to fall at a rate between two and four centimetres an hour during the storm's peak. There is also a risk of freezing rain closer to Lake Superior.
