A 35-year old woman was taken to the hospital and later into police custody for impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle crash Tuesday evening.
In addition to exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit to operate a vehicle, police say the woman is also charged with driving with a suspended license, misuse of plates and driving with no insurance after crashing her purple Pontiac Sunfire into the High Street concrete retaining wall at around 6:30 p.m.
The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was taken to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
She was being held in police custody Wednesday morning awaiting a video court appearance.
The vehicle was said to be operating at a high rate of speed, and police say the crash is still under investigation.
