The man accused of kidnapping and cutting a man’s fingers off told a courtroom Wednesday that he vowed never again be a part of anything criminal.

The trial for Kyle Truong, who goes by alias Tho Quach, wrapped up at the Superior Court of Justice in Thunder Bay Wednesday.

The trial, which started Monday, saw numerous witnesses testify about several incidents that took place in 2009 and 2010.

In one of those incidents a man was allegedly thrown into a hockey bag at a hotel and then had his finger cut off. In another incident, a woman allegedly had her tooth pulled.

Truong has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and forcible confinement to incidents that took place in 2009, but pleaded not guilty to four other charges of forcible confinement, aggravated assault, use of a firearm and kidnapping.

Before lawyers gave their written submissions, Truong spoke about how sorry he was about what he had done. During his emotional appeal to the court, he called his crimes “horrific.”

“I vow to never again be a part of anything criminal,” Truong said.

“I still to this day cannot believe I was part of these heinous acts. I became greedy, I was selfish and I’m angry with myself. I feel like such an evil dirt bag. I don’t know what to say about myself.”

Superior Court Judge John Fregeau adjourned the matter until Jan. 23, 2012 in order to set a date for his decision.
