Area jobless rate sees spike in March, but still below provincial average

Thunder Bay’s area jobless rate saw a sharp increase last month. According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate for March was seven per cent. That's an increase from 6.5 per cent in February.

According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate for March was seven per cent.  That's an increase from 6.5 per cent in February. 

But even though the numbers are higher for last month, our jobless figures are still well below the Ontario’s 8.1 per cent average. 

Nationally, the jobless rate sits at 7.7 per cent.
