A Fort Frances man faces an attempted murder charge following a weekend assault that led to an extended standoff between that suspect and police.
The incident began early Saturday morning when OPP officers were alerted to an incident at a Fort Frances home.
The police arrived to find a man with a serious stab wound and another man who had barricaded himself inside the home.
The suspect eventually surrendered to officers about 12 hours later.
Richard Edward Kabatay, 30, is now in custody and is expected to appear in court on Dec. 6.
The victim in the incident remains in hospital in serious condition.
