Officials with Terrace Bay Pulp say the company is ready to start recalling laid off workers by the end of this month.
Buchanan lawyer Yves Fricot said the company expects to begin the restart process on July 27, which is the same day a sanction hearing is scheduled to get the mill out of bankruptcy protection.
The mill has been closed since February 2009.
Fricot added that the company plans to recall about 300 workers, but the call backs will be completed in stages as it will take several weeks to get the pulp mill back to full operation. He said things have gone "incredibly well" since creditors voted last month to accept the mill's plan to exit bankruptcy protection.
Some of the conditions that have been sorted out include reaching an agreement with the township of Terrace Bay over back taxes, and resolving claims over wood fibre and construction liens.
Fricot said the company is meeting with the province this week to sort out the remaining issues.
If Terrace Bay Pulp gets all of its fiscal issues resolved, Fricot said the bankruptcy judge might be willing to move up the hearing to early next week.
