Area’s jobless rate dips in February

According to Statistics Canada, there were fewer people looking for work last month in the Thunder Bay area. The most recent figures were released by Statistics Canada show the jobless rate for February dipped to 5.6 per cent.

According to Statistics Canada, there were fewer people looking for work last month in the Thunder Bay area. 

The most recent figures were released by Statistics Canada show the jobless rate for February dipped to 5.6 per cent. In January, the jobless rate for this area was at 6.2 per cent.

Nationally, the unemployment rate was down to 7.4 per cent last month, which is down slightly from 7.6 per cent in January.

The new numbers put Thunder Bay as the second lowest area for jobless numbers in Ontario.

Guelph was the only Ontario municipality to have a lower jobless rate than Thunder Bay.
