Arrest made after bear repellent sprayed in apartment

Thirty-eight-year-old Winnipeg man faces charge of administering a noxious substance.

THUNDER BAY – A 38-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested after allegedly spraying bear repellent at a Court Street apartment unit.

Police, in a release issued on Monday, said they were called to a disturbance at the residence on Saturday, just after 6:30 p.m.

According to witnesses, the suspect entered the apartment and sprayed bear repellent.

A male matching his description was later located and found to be in possession of bear spray, which he put down after being told to do so by responding officers.

He was arrested without incident.

Cory Paul Rupert was charged with administering a noxious substance.

He appeared in court on Saturday and was released with a future appearance date.
