The Thunder Bay Art Gallery said farewell to nearly 600 pounds of artwork Monday.

A massive 20-foot long piece called Exorcism by Canadian Artist Carl Beam is on its way to the National Art Gallery of Canada. The piece will be shown in a retrospective exhibition.

Once it is moved into a protective crate, the artwork will weigh more than half a tonne. It will then be loaded onto a truck and shipped to Ottawa.

The Thunder Bay Art Gallery owns the piece and officials say it is one of the heaviest items to ever be loaned out to another gallery.

Exorcism will arrive at the National Gallery on Wednesday. It will be on tour until 2013, when it will arrive back home in Thunder Bay.
