NIPIGON, Ont. - A Surrey, B.C. man is facing numerous assault and weapons charges after a violent altercation in Nipigon sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police media release, officers in Nipigon responded to reports of an altercation at a residence on Sunday, Nov. 26 just after 12:30 a.m.
Officers discovered that two people were the victims of an assault, with one individual suffering a serious injury that required transportation by ambulance to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
A 29-year-old Surrey, B.C. man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, breaking and entering, overcoming resistance by attempting to choke, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, using imitation firearm while committing an offence, discharging an air gun or pistol with intent, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The man remains is custody pending a bail hearing.
