Assault sends one to hospital with life-threatening injuries

A 20-year-old was taken to hospital on Sunday following a serious assault in Fort Frances.

FORT FRANCES – A serious assault has sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries earlier this week.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, police received a report July 25 around 5:14 p.m. of an assault with a weapon that occurred at a local business located at the 400 block of Portage Avenue.

Police and EMS attended the scene and located a victim with serious life-threatening injuries.

The 20-year-old victim was air lifted to Toronto for immediate medical attention.

Police located the suspect on July 26 at 12:30 p.m. and placed them under arrest.

Lindsay Copenace, 38, of Fort Frances has been charged with aggravated assault.

The accused remains in custody awaiting her next court appearance on July 29.
