Assault victim dies

The victim of a brutal assault last week at south-side hotel died on Christmas Eve.

Thunder Bay Police were called to the the Victoria Inn last Saturday night and found an injured male, in one of the hotel rooms. The 53-year-old, who police have not officially identified pending notification of next-of-kin, was taken to hospital and listed in critical condition for mucn of the week.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the incident. 

Kelsey Lance Charles Jacob of Summer Beaver First Nation was originally charged with aggravated assault.

Thunder Bay police say Jacob remains in custody and charges will be looked at pending further investigation. A post-mortem examination has been scheduled.
