ATIKOKAN, Ont. – Provincial police believe a 31-year-old man who allegedly took his riding lawnmower for a drunken joyride was a little too eager for summer to arrive.

Officers at the Atikokan OPP detachment on Wednesday were called about a possible impaired driver, who was on a riding lawnmower, in the town. The man was tracked down on O'Brien Street.

The man was arrested at the scene and brought to the Atikokan detachment for breath tests and subsequently charged with two impaired driving offences.

The accused has been released and is to appear in court in May.

Correction: Police have issued an updated news release that said the incident occurred on March 27.
