THUNDER BAY -  A man accused of shooting another man causing serious injuries made a court appearance on Friday afternoon.

Terry Allen Pelto, 32, is charged with attempted murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to three separate prohibition orders.

Pelto appeared before a justice of the peace on Friday, May 29, by video and was remanded to a future court date as his counsel continues to work on his bail plan.

The accused has been in custody since May 4 after police arrested him in connection to the drug-related shooting that occurred on May 3 which left victim, Shane Keefe, with two serious gunshot wounds.

Thunder Bay Police Service initially responded to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre after a man had crashed a vehicle into a barricade on the hospital’s property.

Police determined the man was seriously injured and had suffered two gunshot wounds prior to his arrival at the hospital.

Pelto was arrested a day later.

One week after his arrest, police identified a second suspect, Jacob Daniel Wattie, 24 and charged him with one count of attempted murder.

Police say the shooting was drug-related.

Both men will appear back in court on June 5.
