A driver’s heavy foot helped police nab him for impaired driving Monday.

Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP say officers received reports of a vehicle driving west bound at a high rate of speed on Highway 11/17.

Officers located the vehicle in the Municipality of Shuniah.

Police say the 2008 Dodge truck was being driven at speeds beyond 160 km/h.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected what they believed was a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath.

Police say a breath sample determined that the driver was over the legal limit.

A 35-year-old man from Dorion was arrested and charged for impaired driving. He is expected to appear in provincial court on Jan. 25, 2012 to face the charge against him.
