Attic fire

A Tuesday evening blaze has left a Westfort home severely damaged. Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to the blaze in the 900 block of Home Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. after a neighbour noticed smoke coming from the home.

A Tuesday evening blaze has left a Westfort home severely damaged.

Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to the blaze in the 900 block of Home Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. after a neighbour noticed smoke coming from the home.

Firefighters blocked off the streets of the neighbourhood as fire crews and pumpers attacked the blaze via an aerial assault after cutting holes in the rooftop.

Hydro crews and paramedics were also at the scene.

It is believed that no one was inside the home when the fire started.

It took firefighters more than an hour to ge tthe blaze under control. The fire started in the attic space of the home, but the cause is still unknown at this time.

No firefighters were injured as a result of this fire.
