THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s Dog Days of Summer campaign is back, and this August is not just about celebrating pets, it’s about helping them find homes too.

The Foundation has partnered with the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society to spotlight pets currently in the shelter’s care, giving them exposure to potential adopters.

The new collaboration launches Wednesday, July 30, with adoptable dogs featured weekly on the foundation’s social media channels. On International Cat Day, August 8th, the campaign will shine a light on the many adoptable cats waiting for homes.

“The Dog Days of Summer is one of our favourite campaigns of the year because, like so many, we’re animal lovers too,” said Glenn Craig, CEO of the foundation. “Teaming up with the Humane Society brought even more heart to the campaign, giving us the chance to help more pets get seen and hopefully find their forever homes.”

For the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society, the partnership means expanded reach and greater hope for animals awaiting adoption.

“This partnership means so much to us because it helps amplify what we work towards every day and that’s finding loving homes for the animals in our care,” said Stephanie Folino of the Humane Society. “Thanks to the Foundation’s platform, our adoptable pets are reaching more people than ever before.”

The initiative runs alongside the Foundation’s August 50/50 draw, which offers over $159,000 in early bird prizes, weekday draws, a bonus Saturday draw, and a $100 Summer Ticket Package that includes bonus numbers. All proceeds help support local healthcare.

Tickets can be purchased at online, tickets must be bought by 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 28, to be eligible for the Grand Prize draw on Friday, August 29.
