THUNDER BAY -- An autistic teenager's wheelchair that was stolen from a Westfort neighbourhood garage on Thursday night has been found.
A woman who was also in a wheelchair and her son were passing the Westfort bar parking lot on Sunday morning when they spotted the special-order wheelchair with the silver 'S' on its back.
Stemming from a Friday facebook post, Shealyn and her foster family's story exploded and support poured in from the community.
Shealyn's father Scott Cameron was touched by the response.
"We weren't looking for charity or anything like that. We just wanted the chair back," he said.
"The fact that the community went about it the way they did, I'm very happy about it. It goes to show we still have kind-hearted people out there."
Cameron said the tools that were stolen could be replaced but something so personal as stealing a wheelchair from a child was shocking.
"It's $400. You have nothing better to do with your time than steal from a 15-year-old girl? That's just wrong. I'm just happy with the fact that we got it back. That's all that really matters to me."
