Bail hearing set for woman connected to attempted murder case

THUNDER BAY - A woman facing drug and firearm charges connected to an attempted murder case has a bail hearing scheduled for next Thursday.

Molly O’Brien, 29, of Peterborough, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm with knowledge its possession is unauthorized, prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and a breach of probation.

O’Brien made a brief audio appearance in Thunder Bay bail court on Friday, May 29, and was remanded to June 4 for a bail hearing to occur at the request of her counsel, Tyler Woods.

Her co-accused, Natalie Salatino, who faces similar charges will appear back in court on June 3 to have a bail hearing date set as well.

Both women were arrested following a drug bust in the 700-block of Catherine Street on May 11.

During this investigation, police seized more than $30,000 in drugs.

Police began their investigation on May 3 after a man had crashed a vehicle into a barricade on the hospital’s property.

Police determined the victim had suffered two gunshot wounds and arrested Terry Allen Pelto, 32, and charged him with attempted murder and firearm offences.

A second suspect, Jacob Daniel Wattie, 24, was also arrested on May 11 and charged with attempt murder and firearm-related charges.

Both men remain in custody.
