THUNDER BAY – A well-known local lawyer facing charges of sexual assault will be back in court later this month.
Alexander (Sandy) Zaitzeff appeared via video at the Thunder Bay courthouse Wednesday to be spoken to. He was remanded until Feb. 22, when he is scheduled to reappear via video for a bail review.
Zaitzeff faces a number of charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching under 16, five counts of assault and mischief under $5,000. He also faces a charge of breach of recognizance.
The long-serving lawyer is a prominent figure in Thunder Bay's legal community and most recently made headlines for his work in a class-action lawsuit against the RCMP.
None of the charges he faces have been proven in court.
