RED LAKE, Ont. - A British Columbia man is facing an impaired driving charge after being stopped by the Ontario Provincial Police in Red Lake.
According to a media release by the OPP, officers with the Red Lake Detachment observed a vehicle failing to stop at an intersection just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The vehicle was stopped and officers obtained a breath sample. The driver failed and was transported to the detachment for further tests.
A 25-year-old man from Salmon Arm, B.C. was charged with one count of operating a vehicle while impaired.
The man was released by way of recognizance and is expected to return to a Red Lake court on Nov. 21 to answer to the charges.
The OPP is reminding the public that operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can result in license suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundment, criminal records, and increased insurance costs.
