THUNDER BAY – The Ontario Provincial Police have issued a warning to the public about two teens wanted in connection with the deaths of three people in northern British Columbia.
In a tweet sent from the OPP NorthWest Region account, police say “Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky MAY be in Manitoba and are considered dangerous. Police have reason to believe they were recently in the Gillam, MB area. If you spot them, do not approach. Call 911 immediately or your local police.”
The suspects are wanted for questioning in the deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend Chynna Deese.
They are also wanted in connection with the death of a man who police have yet to identify.
Both suspects are from Port Alberni, B.C. and were initially listed as missing, but on Monday the RCMP said they had information that led them to believe they are suspects in all three deaths.
The pair was spotted earlier this week in northern Saskatchewan and possibly in Gillam, Man., 1,000 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
The bodies of Deese and Fowler were found on July 15 south of Liard Hot Springs, B.C. on Alaska Highway 97.
The other victim’s body was found four days later on B.C.’s Highway 37, two kilometres away from a burning pick-up truck.
They were last seen driving a silver Toyota Rav 4, but police believe they may have changed both their appearance and the vehicle they're traveling in.
