Beer can assault nets man court date

Police say they arrested a 44-year-old man who is believed to have thrown a beer can from a vehicle at a woman walking her infant. Officers with the Nipigon detachment of the OPP say they received a report about the assault after 4 p.m.

Police say they arrested a 44-year-old man who is believed to have thrown a beer can from a vehicle at a woman walking her infant.

Officers with the Nipigon detachment of the OPP say they received a report about the assault after 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18 in Nipigon.

Police say the woman was pushing her child in a stroller on Bell Street when a beer can was tossed from a passing motor vehicle.

An investigation revealed that a man, who was the passenger of a vehicle at the time, was responsible for throwing the beer can.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Police say Rodney Corett, 44, of Nipigon has been charged with assault.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on July 24.
