If an evacuation is called, the CAA’s Korey Kennedy says it’s easier to comply with the order if your vehicle is in good repair and ready to go.

“The best course of action is to actually ensure that your vehicle at least has a quarter tank, ideally a half a tank, of gas to safely get you far enough away from the site in question,” Kennedy said.

OPP Sgt. Shelley Garr recommends also having a duffle bag packed and ready, containing medications, important papers, and clothing appropriate to the season.
