Another member of Thunder Bay City Council hopes to retain his position at city hall.

Mark Bentz filed his nomination papers at the City Clerk's office Friday. The Northwood Ward councillor was first elected in 2003, and was acclaimed in 2006 after no one chose to run against him. Bentz said Thunder Bay has been making good progress lately, and he wants to continue making decisions to move the city forward.

Bentz has also been chair of the city's waterfront development committee since 2005, and was just re-appointed to that role this week for another term.

Meanwhile, there's another declared candidate in the at-large council race. Terrence Yahn, who sits on the public library board, has decided to run again.

He was a candidate in 2006, finishing 13th out 15 candidates running at large.
