THUNDER BAY -- A town-hall meeting was held in Thunder Bay Friday night to collect public feedback on the Ontario Municipal Board.
It's an independent body that calls the shots in land-use planning, but the problem is that the OMB tends to make decisions in favour of land developers, taking away power from municipal decision-makers.
The provincial government wants that to change.
Nineteen people attended the final public consultation, of twelve, that were held across the province.
Attendees were greeted by Bill Mauro (Lib., Thunder Bay-Atikokan) who said the overall goal of the consultations is to give more deference and respect to local decision making.
Attendees also spent the evening providing feedback to the organizers and discussing possible changes for the board.
