SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Thunder Bay goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood has a two-year deal to resume his NHL career with the San Jose Sharks.

The 26-year-old, who did not receive a qualifying offer on Friday, was dealt to the Sharks earlier this week by the New Jersey Devils and became an unrestricted free agent on Sunday.

His contract is worth $4.7 million over two seasons.

Blackwood, a second-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2015, has been plagued by injuries the past two seasons, playing in just 47 games since the start of 2021-22.

The five-year NHL veteran played 22 games this past season, going 10-6-2 with a 3.20 goals against average. In 152 career games, he's 65-57-18, with a 2.97 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
