THUNDER BAY – Firefighters battled a major fire in Thunder Bay’s south end Friday night, with a Finlayson Street home suffering significant damage.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was called to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of the south-side street shortly before 11 p.m., arriving to find the home already engulfed in flames that reached ten feet above its roof.
Responding with five pumpers, an aerial ladder, and a command unit, arriving units quickly brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries, reported platoon chief Philip Dzuba, but the home suffered extensive damage.
The fire is under investigation by TBFR to determine the cause.
