THUNDER BAY -- The St. Louis Blues will retire hall-of-famer Chris Pronger's No. 44 jersey on Jan. 17.
The National Hockey League team had planned an earlier ceremony, but it was pushed back due to COVID-19.
"You look at the names that are up there, the Blues greats - from Bobby (Plager and Gassoff) to Bernie (Federko) to Brian Sutter to (Brett Hull) to Al (MacInnis) - you look at the names up there and they are synonymous with the St. Louis Blues. To be up there is very special," Pronger told stlouisblues.com.
Pronger's will be the eighth jersey retired by the Blues.
The Dryden, Ont. native spent 598 games in a St. Louis uniform, scoring 84 goals and 272 assists for 356 points, while being handed 931 minutes in penalties.
He was a four-time all-star with the Blues and won both the Norris and Hart trophies with the team in 1999-2000 and finished with 698 points in 1,167 career NHL games. He was elected to the hall of fame in 2015.
