Body pulled from Kaministiquia River

Police say a deceased male was recovered early Saturday morning.

THUNDER BAY - Emergency crews have pulled a body out of the Kaministiquia River.

In a release issued on Saturday morning, Thunder Bay Police say they received a call at about 8:20 a.m. indicating there was a deceased male in the water adjacent to the Thunder Bay Rowing Club on Dock Street near the Kam River Park.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue conducted the recovery.

Police are holding the scene, saying they are in the early stages of the investigation, which is ongoing. Police have a heavy presence on the bank of the river, where the body remains, covered in an orange tarp, and have also blocked off an entrance to the park along Simpson Street.
