A strike has been averted at Thunder Bay's Bombardier Plant.

Officials with COPE, the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, held a meeting Sunday evening to vote on a proposed deal.

President of COPE Local 81 Dan Rogers said the employees voted 75 percent in favour of the deal.

Rogers added that the ratified contract will see an increase in weekly hours and early retirement for workers.

The union's 138 office staff members, engineers and technicians employed at Bombardier had threatened to walk off the job yesterday if a deal wasn't reached.
