OLIVER PAIPOONGE – The Sioux Lookout Bombers win streak is over at 13.

But it took a shootout to get the job done.

Jett Mintenko scored on the Kam River Fighting Walleye’s third shootout shot, beating Sioux Lookout netminder Matthew Spencer-Dahl for the game-winning goal, after the Walleye battled back from two goals down on Saturday night to send the game to overtime.

Isiah Kinnavanthong and Riley Borody scored a minute apart in the third to erase the Bombers 2-0 lead.

Blake Burke staked Sioux Lookout to a 1-0 lead after one and Jonah Smith doubled their advantage with the only goal of the second, putting it past Ashton Sadauskas at 9:07. Sadauskas had earlier gotten the better of Smith, stopping him on a first-period penalty shot.

Kam River (22-6-1) pulled to within four points of Sioux Lookout (23-5-3) with the win.

Thunder Bay 6, Fort Frances 3: The North Stars upped their win streak to five, the longest current streak in the Superior International Junior Hockey League, scoring four in the first to jump in front early. Tyler Jordan and Edison Weeks each had a pair for the third-place North Stars (20-9-3). Magnus Pearson got the Lakers on the board 3:13 into the second, with singles going to Remington Richardson and Brandon Gustafson.

Dryden 8, Kenora 4: Down four players to suspension after a line brawl the night before, the Kenora Islanders put up a fight, but couldn’t snap their 27-game losing streak. Braden Swampy scored 16 seconds apart late in the first to give the Islanders a 3-2 lead, but Dryden rolled off five straight in the second to put the game away. Ryland Maier and Max Roby each scored twice and added an assist for the Ice Dogs (20-13-2).
