PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. -- Trevor Bonot is a win away from playing for the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship.

The Thunder Bay skip on Friday earned a spot in the semifinal round, and will take on Jamie Koe of the Northwest Territories at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The team Northern Ontario rink, which includes lead Amanda Gates, second Mike McCarville and third Jackie McCormick, downed New Brunswick's Grant Odishaw in the afternoon draw of championship round play on Friday, then fell 8-5 to Saskatchewan's Shaun Meachem in the evening draw to finish at 6-4.

That left Bonot in a four-way tie for third place with British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.

B.C.'s Miles Craig and Quebec's Felix Asselin will tangle in Saturday's other semifinal.

The final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
