THUNDER BAY -- A rural area of the city is without power after a boom truck took out a number of power lines.
The truck was attempting to pull onto Oliver Road from a private driveway when the boom, which was still extended, got caught in the lines. That caused the truck to roll over on the road and a number of the lines to come down.
Thunder Bay Hydro crews are working on scene but police said they have been told power will not likely be completely restored until the evening. Hydro has said about 125 people are without power.
Police have closed Oliver Road just west of Belrose Road to just east of Beckwick Road to allow crews to work.
They are advising Mapleward Road be used as a detour in the meantime.
The driver of the truck was not seriously injured.
