THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Border Cats will have to wait for the snow to melt and June to roll around before they officially take the field for the first time in nearly four years.
But the Northwoods League team wants to get the party started early.
The team, founded in 2003, is inviting fans to a kick-off Hot Stove League Party on Saturday, starting at 12:30 p.m., at the Sleeping Giant Brewery.
The party will include free pizza and a virtual question-and-answer session with new manager J.M. Kelly. The Border Cats also plan to announced a number of player signings and will unveil the team's new general manager.
The team will return to Port Arthur Stadium, after three seasons on the sidelines, on June 6 against the Duluth Huskies.
