DULUTH – Six in the sixth was good enough for the Thunder Bay Border Cats to snap a three-game slide.

The Cats batted around in the decisive inning, Andrew Shebloski’s two-run triple the big hit in the nning. Nate Soriano also had an RBI triple in the sixth and came home to score on a Karsten Vazquez single.

They would go on to down their cross-border rival 8-1.

Soriano and Thomas Grilli each had a pair of RBI on the night for Thunder Bay, who ended their road trip with one win in four outings.

The effort earned Joe Moran (3-0) another win, after a five-hit, four-walk, four-strikeout performance over seven innings.

Aaron Kern surrendered two hits and no runs closing things out over the final two frames.

The loss went to Justin Moore, who took over from starter Dane Morrow to start the fifth. Morrow allowed a single run on just two hits before departing.

It wasn’t Moore’s night.

The Cats hitters pounded him for seven runs on just four hits to hand Moore (0-1) his first loss of 2019.

Thunder Bay (12-18) returns to Port Arthur Stadium on Saturday to open a four=game set against Waterloo. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
