FORT FRANCES, Ont. —The Canada Border Services Agency hopes to recruit new officers for work at more remote border crossings, including Fort Frances and Rainy River in northwestern Ontario.
The CBSA will have a booth at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce Business and Community Expo on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28.
The agency is Canada's second-largest law enforcement organization.
Charles Fisher, superintendent of CBSA's Fort Frances port of entry, says he and the other officers make a difference in keeping Canada safe and protecting Canadians. "Our officers are vigilant about keeping prohibited weapons and drugs from crossing our border," he said.
Fisher added "I also love that I get to go home and be part of a close-knit community."
In a news release, the CBSA noted that many officers who work at the agency's rural locations enjoy the lifestyle that those locations allow.
It added that they also appreciate "the strong sense of community, lower cost of living, and opportunity to live in closer proximity to their workplace, with no commuter rush hour."
