Canada Border Services is advising travellers to expect border delays this American Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
CBSA officials say the Pigeon River border crossing could see long line-ups between 3 and 9 p.m. on Sunday due to more travellers taking advantage of the high Canadian dollar. As a result, they're asking travellers to consider the potential for long delays, and to make sure they have proper identification and shopping receipts ready to help speed things along.
Meanwhile, Fort Frances town officials are calling on Ottawa and the province to help deal with lineups of vehicles waiting to cross into the U.S.
Taxpayers in Fort Frances have been footing the bill for policing and managing the lines of cars at the border.
Town officials say Ottawa and the province have a financial and operational obligation to make sure border traffic is safe and orderly.
