ST. LOUIS – Thunder Bay defenceman Robert Bortuzzo has sparked a bit of a geographical controversy and leads to the question, is Ontario in eastern or central Canada?
The St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup-winning blue-liner was playing a game of Guess Who with teammate Jaden Schwartz for the NHL team's social media feed. Each contestant picked a teammate and the other had to figure out who they'd chosen.
Bortuzzo picked Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington, a Richmond Hill, Ont. native, and Schwartz attempted to narrow it down with a question.
“Is your guy from the eastern part of Canada,” the veteran forward asked.
“Uh, no,” Bortuzzo responded.
Schwartz began eliminating the possibilties.
“Is your guy less than a 10 handicap in golf?”
“No,” Bortuzzo responded.
After the questions wound down, Bortuzzo guessed that Schwartz's player was David Perron.
“Who was yours?” he asked Bortuzzo.
“Binner,” was the response.
“He's from eastern Canada,' said Schwartz, who hails from Wilcox, Sask.
“He's from Ontario,” said Bortuzzo.
Schwartz then threw up his arms and accused his teammate of bending the rules.
“That's cheating. Ontario is eastern Canada,” Schwartz said.
“I didn't cheat,” answered Bortuzzo. “Ontario is central Canada.”
Schwartz still is not convinced.
“I'm going to look that up later,” he said.
