THUNDER BAY – The mayor will have the opportunity to address the state of Thunder Bay.

In a speech that has seen several postponements, Ken Boshcoff said his speech is set.

The mayor said it will focus on “what has happened administratively. Have we as a city acted on the mandates that we were given? Are we addressing issues and meeting targets?”

All roads lead to Thunder Bay will emphasize the city's strategic location and the vast opportunities it offers.

Boshcoff has said there are a lot of good things happening in the city -- his speech will focus on positive things happening in Thunder Bay.

The city recently hosted the Ontario Winter Games and passed their budget with a tax levy of 5.47 per cent after growth and 5.91 per cent before growth.

During the long-term financial outlook, staff were projecting the municipal tax levy increase would be between 4.4 and 4.8 per cent based on estimated annual growth of $1.2 million in 2025 and $1 million thereafter.

“We have a large territory of city to manage and a lot of demands on service," Boshcoff said.

"I am not fearful of the future, but the reality is that things are going to get a lot more difficult simply because of the way that inflation is working against us.”

Monday’s meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
