Children didn’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus.

More than a dozen families arrived at the Paramount Threatre and Wiggles and Giggles on Saturday to have breakfast with Santa. It was the first time that the children’s activity centre hosted the morning breakfast in part of the Waterfront District BIA Christmas event.

Wiggles and Giggles manager Rosa Cupello said she has always liked making people happy, so hosting an event that spread Christmas cheer just fit perfectly with her business and ideals.

“I love seeing life in this venue,” Cupello said. “It’s been my life goal to bring people together here. Kids love it and it just makes me happy to see people enjoy being with their families. A family community event like this just brings everyone together.”

Suzan Rochon, chair of the Waterfront District BIA, said a portion of the proceeds will go to the Dew Drop Inn. She said they chose that charity organization because of its location in the Waterfront district.

Rochon said event is to encourage people to come to the Port Arthur downtown area and visit some of the shops.

“We try to do a Christmas event every year,” Rochon said. “We like to give back to the community we’re working in and it’s a great event to bring people downtown and see what the downtown has to offer. We have a lot of great shops in the downtown district and new shops as well so it really gives people a chance to enjoy themselves over the holiday season.”
