Bricks blown off Frederica Street home

Police have asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation is conducted.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded on Sunday night to what appears to have been an explosion at a Frederica Street residence.

Thunder Bay Police have blocked off a section of the Westfort street east of Edward Street while the investigation takes place.

A large section of the home's brick facade has fallen off the building and neighbours on social media are reporting hearing a loud bang. A witness on scene said firefighters quickly put out a small fire.

Police have asked the public to avoid the area.

This is a developing story and it will be updated if and when more information is available.
