THUNDER BAY — The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is lamenting an incident of malicious damage at one of its conservation areas.

Over the weekend, someone drove a pickup truck down the walking trail at the Mills Block Forest off John Street Road.

The vehicle broke or damaged posts and railings on a recently-installed bridge near the start of the trail.

"Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover how we are feeling right now," the LRCA said in a social media post Monday.

It said the bridge was built by volunteers a few summers ago, with donations by Union Gas.

"At a time when people are trying to manage stress and anxiety and physical health, nonsense like this doesn't help," the post said.
