THUNDER BAY -- To make the holiday brighter, Santa Claus is bringing greetings, gifts and a holiday feast to some Thunder Bay neighbourhoods. On Saturday, Dec. 16, Santa will be visiting the Bloucher/Piction/Windsor and Limbrick neighbourhoods.
Santa will certainly be the focus of attention for the kids, but this is also an opportunity for families to come together to enjoy a festive holiday feast.
All residents of these neighbourhoods are welcome to join the holiday events that are taking place as follows:
· 1 - 2:30 p.m. - Blucher/Picton/Windsor neighbourhood - Unit 16, 288 Windsor St.
· 3 - 4:30 p.m. - Limbrick neighbourhood - Kinsmen Centre at 609 James St. N.
“There is good work being done in building and strengthening Indigenous relations and trust and we recognize there is still work to be done,” said John Hannam, City Clerk, City of Thunder Bay.
“This grassroots initiative to bring the holiday season to the neighborhoods is one of the many community development steps the Friendship Agreement partners are taking to confront racism and crime in order to create a more welcoming and nurturing environment for communities, families and youth.”
The Friendship Agreement was signed on Sept. 29, 2017, by North Caribou Lake First Nation, Fort William First Nation, the City of Thunder Bay and Thunder Bay Police Service.
Signatories of the Friendship Agreement will be on hand to welcome and greet the neighbourhood residents to the event.
Photo opportunities and interviews for the media will be available at the Blucher/Picton/Windsor neighborhood from 1 - 2:30 p.m.
