THUNDER BAY -- The former Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North says he is "all but done" with federal politics.
Bruce Hyer, however, has not ruled out running for the Green party in the coming Ontario election.
As yet, the Greens have not selected a candidate for the June provincial vote in either Thunder Bay riding.
In a brief interview on Monday, Hyer said he is still considering his options.
Hyer recently stepped down as one of the two deputy leaders of the federal Green party, a post he continued to hold despite losing his seat as Green MP in the 2015 election to Liberal candidate Patty Hajdu.
At a news conference Monday in Halifax, Green leader Elizabeth May said Hyer was being replaced by veteran journalist and broadcaster Jo-Ann Roberts.
May said Hyer would be focusing on provincial Green Party efforts in Ontario.
He was first elected to the House of Commons in 2008 as a member of the NDP, and was re-elected in 2011
In 2012, Hyer left the NDP to sit as an independent member in the wake of party leader Tom Mulcair's pledge to restore the long-gun registry. The next year, Hyer joined the Green Party.
