THUNDER BAY – The Bubble Guppies will embark on an adventure when they take the stage at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

In a 60-minute live theatrical performance, the Bubble Guppies plan to put on a rock concert for all their fans, but when one of the band members goes missing the adventure takes a turn.

The Bubble Guppies is based on an animated television show about preschoolers who attend an underwater classroom.

“The families can expect a rock and roll show for all ages,” said director and choreographer Patti Caplette.

“It’s full of songs, dance moves and we really get the audience up and participating throughout the whole show.”

Her favourite part of the evening comes after the missing band members is found with some much-needed help from the cast, the curtain opens and the Bubble Guppies are finally able to begin the rock show.

“They are all in their rock and roll gear, their glasses and leather outfits … it’s just a really fun scene right there toward the end,” Caplette said.

The popular Bubble Guppies have added a new cast member for the show, Rock Lobster, created to engage the audience by speaking directly to the children and asking them questions.

She added the audience can expect to be involved in the show, entertained and leave with a new appreciation of theatre they can share as a family.

“Theatre is my temple,” Caplette said. “I believe you can bring all sorts of new, innovative and entertaining ways to audiences through theatre.”

There’s nothing like seeing little faces lighting up in the audience and knowing these shows could inspire youth to join theatre classes or dance classes in the future.

The Bubble Guppies show is back by popular demand and hitting a lot of communities they missed the last time the troupe was on the road.

“We did a tour about a year and a half ago, and sometimes we couldn’t make it to every theatre in Canada,” she said.

“We are back doing another three months and we are travelling coast to coast, so the gang is slowly moving from the west to the east with the performance.”

Caplette added that she hopes families come check out the show as it’s not the same as watching it on TV.

“It’s a different element, a different medium and even if they don’t know the Bubble Guppies they are going to enjoy this show,” she said.

“It’s full of colour, it’s full of life and the actors are stellar.”

The Bubble Guppies Live! Ready to Rock show will take place Friday, March 10 at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.
