Lakehead Public Schools has started its budget process.
Administration presented the board with a preliminary analysis report Tuesday evening and the budget committee was established.
Marg Arnone was acclaimed as budget chair and said the preliminary analysis is an outline for the budget process.
“Nothing is concretely established. We just have a general idea of what our needs are for our students at that time,” she said.
The next step is to listen to deputations from various stakeholders and committees like the board’s special needs and Aboriginal education advisory committees.
Arnone said she couldn’t speculate on what the budget will look like this year, but that the students are the foundation of the entire process.
“They’re our number one priority,” she said.
The budget will be finalized by the end of June to be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval.
