Bus pass may be in Ear Falls woman's future, OPP lay impaired driving charge

(EAR FALLS, ON) – Officers of the Ear Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult female driver with impaired driving on March 5, 2016 at 1:15 a.m.

During routine patrol, officers stopped a 2004 motor vehicle on Balsam Avenue after following the vehicle for a period of time. As officers were speaking with the driver they had a suspicion of alcohol. The driver was administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD). Failing the roadside device the driver was arrested and transported to the Red Lake Detachment for tests.

A 34-year-old Ear Falls woman is charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code .

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in Red Lake Court, March 31, 2016. The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and she was issued a mandatory drivers licence suspension. 

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.  If you are planning to consume alcohol then plan to have a sober person drive you home.
