City police officers believe an abduction at a Greyhound bus terminal appears to be a case of a drug deal involving magic mushrooms gone bad.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a man was waiting for a bus at the terminal just before 8 p.m. Monday when he was approached by two men.

The two men dragged the victim out of the terminal and into a truck and sped off.

“Initially we received a phone call complaining of an altercation at the Greyhound terminal on Fort William Road last night around 7:45 p.m.,” said acting Det. Insp. Don Lewis.

About 30 minutes later police were called to a home on White Park Road, where a man had been banging on residents doors asking for help and to call police.

Officers who arrived on scene learned that this man was the victim involved in the earlier kidnapping incident.

Police located the two accused men at the Can-Op gas station on Oliver Road.

Both men face charges of kidnapping, assault, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.

The victim was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Lewis said there was mention of another male in the truck, but police are still investigating and haven’t determined whether he is a suspect or a victim.

The truck has also been seized by police.

The investigation continues.
