Two city buses collided on Algoma Street in front of the Italian Cultural Centre Monday afternoon, sending a few people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Jesalyn Bebe was riding at the back of one bus, listening to her iPod, when she saw them coming up behind another city bus.

"It looked like he was going to pass but he braked really fast and ended up hitting the bus in front of us," she said, visibly shaken from the crash.

She said at the time of the crash she saw the driver stand forward and then the windshield collapsed.

"There was a woman in the front who hit her head really hard on the bar," she said. "She just hit her head really hard and a little bit of glass flew towards her."

Bebe said the injured woman was a senior and Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Services’ Capt. Dan Romanson said the woman was taken the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

"It didn’t look serious but as a precaution we send all those types of injuries to the regional hospital," he said.

Romanson called the crash a minor bus accident and said a few people went to the hospital with minor injuries. He said he wasn’t sure what exactly happened, but police were on the scene investigating.

"The city will be bringing their people as well," he said. "A city investigator will check out what happened and take the buses away once they’ve finished with their investigation."
